My most recent work in stoneware and porcelain has been inspired by the life affirming vernal pools and natural life forms I have observed at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta, Maine. I fire my stoneware and porcelain pottery in a fuel burning reduction kiln, to 2300 F. There is always risk and mystery in this type of firing and always something to learn. I have often asked my terminally curious self why I subject myself to such uncertainty!
